Rain Garden

Rain Garden

A rain garden is a planted depression or a hole that allows rain water run off, from impervious surfaces, the opportunity to be absorbed. Plant a rain garden next to impervious surfaces like roofs, driveways, walkways, parking lots, and compacted lawn areas. This reduces rain run off by allowing stormwater to soak into the ground.

Our top native perennials for a sunny rain garden are:

Swamp Milkweed, Turtlehead, Sneezeweed, Joe Pye Weed, Culvers Root, Rose Mallow, Tall Meadow Rue, Seed Box, Blue Vervain and Golden Alexander.
